The Market accepts (and DOUBLES)

SNAP Benefits

Shoppers who use Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Benefits at Market get twice as much food for their shopping dollars, while also supporting local farmers and investing in the Brown County community.

Using Benefits at the Market

  • Check in at the Market Information Tent

  • We will debit the amount you want to spend at the market from your EBT card.

  • If you have WIC or Senior FMNP checks, just show us your checks

  • We give you $1 in Market Bucks for every dollar you spend, up to $10 a week!

  • Happy shopping! If you have Market Bucks remaining when you’re done shopping, just save them and bring them back the next time you come to Market.

SNAP

Allowable Foods

SNAP allowed foods include fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, eggs, dairy products, bread and other baked goods, cereal and edible grains, packaged foods not intended for on-site consumption, and plants or seeds which will produce food for the SNAP user’s consumption. Packaged coffee and tea may be purchased, but not brewed coffee or tea prepared for on-site consumption.

Disallowed products include foods sold hot or prepared for on-site consumption, wine, any hot or cold prepared beverages, any foods purchased with the intent of re-selling and any non-food items.

SNAP Approved Vendors

The Nashville Indiana Farmers Market is an “Approved Market” so all vendors that sell these types of products are permitted to accept your SNAP payment.

WIC & Senior FMNP Allowable Foods

WIC and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program checks may ONLY be used to purchase fresh, locally grown, unprocessed fruits, vegetables, and edible herbs.

All other foods are NOT eligible for purchase with WIC or Senior FMNP checks. This includes, but is not limited to, processed fruit or vegetable products (jams, jellies, syrups, popcorn, juices/ciders, and baked goods of any kind, including fruit pies and breads); dried beans/peas, flowers, honey, milk, cheese, ornamental corn, miniature pumpkins, gourds, nuts, plants and any prepared foods or drinks.

Approved Vendors

Unlike SNAP, individual vendors must be approved to accept WIC and Senior FMNP payments. Keep an eye out for signs that say “WIC and Senior Farmers Market Checks Accepted Here,” or just ask at the Information Tent which vendors are approved.
